I took up marathon running about 1 1/2 years ago to maintain my fitness level.   I completed my first marathon in Jan 2008 and now have the goal to complete my second at the Marine Corps Marathon in DC on October 26, 2008.  To help keep me motivated through the hours and hours of training, I decided to use this race as an opportunity to raise funds for an organization that I have been a proud part of since 1991, Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department.

HVFD has a strong base of volunteers who provide fire and EMS services to the City of Hyattsville, MD and surrounding communities.  The well trained and dedicated volunteers respond to over 4,000 emergency calls a year and receive no pay for their services.  Donations are a critical part of funding operations of the department.  Every donation helps no matter how big or small.  And, your donation is tax deductible.
